Founded by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, Alexandria boasts a history spanning over two millennia. For instance, key historical sites include the restored library, honouring the ancient Library of Alexandria, and Roman theatres. Moreover, you’ll find 1950s palaces along the shore front and the Citadel of Qaitbay, where the Pharos lighthouse once stood.
