Africa

From surfing and diving tips in Mozambique to a full Marrakech city guide, this hub pulls together everything I’ve learned about travelling Africa, the wins, the gotchas, and the routes I would take if I was travelling Africa tomorrow. Below you’ll find my latest guides as they’re published: one-day city blitzes, safari escapes, mountain hikes, wildlife experiences and practical “how to” posts.
If you’re planning your first trip, start with timing (rainy vs dry seasons), entry rules (eVisa/VOA vary by country), and how you’ll move around (domestic flights are often cheaper than you think; long bus hops can be epic but slow). Costs swing wildly by destination and season, so I add real numbers where possible and flag common price traps.
My aim is simple: help you stitch together days that actually flow, less faff, more “this is why we came”.

Africa planning basics in 60 seconds:

  • When to go: dry seasons usually mean easier logistics and wildlife viewing; shoulder months = value.
  • Getting around: mix of short-haul flights + targeted car hire; trains exist in pockets; buses/coasters go almost everywhere.
  • Money & safety: cards in big cities, cash elsewhere; ATMs can be patchy, carry buffer. Use official taxis/ride-hail where available.
  • Stays: book cancellable for peak/holiday periods; lodges/camps sell out far ahead.

I’m a travel-obsessed guy who’s been chasing that perfect moment for more years than I can remember – still buzzing like a kid! One Greek island trip changed everything. Now I share travel secrets most tourists miss through Soft Footprints. Trust me: life-changing places aren’t all on TripAdvisor.
