Explore Rome: Day 1
Discover Vatican Treasures
Wake up early if you want to avoid the crowds at St. Peter’s Basilica. It opens, consequently, at 7 am. Climbing the “cupola” undoubtedly offers amazing city views. Afterward, explore St. Peter’s Square. The Vatican Museums opens at 9 am, with its amazing history. History lovers will likely spend most of the day here, nonetheless.
Explore Piazza Navona
You’ll discover Rome’s famous Piazza Navona across the river. It features Bernini fountains, cafés, and lively street performers. You can also people-watch and enjoy gelato amid the lively crowds.
Wander and Discover
Allow time to explore Rome freely. Keep a map, but walk without a plan. You might, therefore, find unexpected treasures. Explore Rome at night, additionally. The city lights up beautifully. Consider an evening walking tour if you’re travelling solo.

Join a Food Tour
Experience Rome through its food. A food and pizza-making tour offers, likewise, a taste of the city. You’ll visit markets, bakeries, and pizzerias. The tour ends, subsequently, with traditional Italian coffee. You’ll get your bearings while enjoying delicious bites.
Wander Over to the Roman Forum for Iconic Views of the City
Discover Ancient Rome
Visit the Imperial Forums, including Trajan’s markets – the world’s first multi-level mall. Explore Via Biberatica, correspondingly, the most intact ancient Roman street.
Explore Palatine Hill
After the forum, climb Palatine Hill. You’ll also see ruins of imperial palaces and beautiful gardens. Fragments of ancient villas dot the landscape. This hill, therefore, offers a glimpse into Rome’s regal past.
Experience the Colosseum
After visiting the Roman-Forum, head off to the Colosseum. This iconic structure stands nearby, awaiting your visit. This amazing sight is worth seeing up close. Colosseum tours of the interior are available but can be a little expensive costly and often have long queues.
Near to the Colosseum stands the magnificent Arch-of-Constantine. The triumphal arch marks Emperor Constantine’s victory. Additionally, it celebrates Christianity’s rise in Rome.
Enjoy Sunset Views
For a serene sunset, head to Piazza del Campidoglio on Capitoline Hill. Slip behind the central building for a stunning view. You’ll see the Forum, Palatine Hill, and Colosseum bathed in golden light. This panorama, consequently, offers a perfect end to your day of ancient Roman exploration.
Explore Rome: Day 3
Start with a Historic Coffee
Start your day at Sant’ Eustachio Il Caffè, a historic coffee roastery that began in 1938. It grew from an 1800s “Caffè e Latte” shop in St. Eustace Square. You’ll find this gem near Piazza Navona and the Pantheon.
The café bustles with locals and tourists alike. You can enjoy their wide coffee and pastry selection. Outside seating, moreover, lets you relax and take in the views.
Marvel at the Pantheon
The Pantheon stands as a must-see Rome sight. This ancient temple has survived nearly intact for thousands of years. Its architecture will amaze you. Take time to sit in the piazza and absorb the stately view before entering.
Explore Piazza del Popolo
Head north to Piazza del Popolo. If you’re interested, visit the fabulous Santa Maria del Popolo church. This square offers another glimpse into Rome’s rich history and architectural beauty.
Stroll Villa Borghese
Next to Piazza del Popolo, you can discover Villa Borghese. The large park offers a peaceful escape from the city’s bustle. Visit the east end for great city views and photo spots. This park, furthermore, offers a peaceful break from bustling Rome.
Relax at the Spanish Steps
People-watch from the iconic Spanish Steps. Afterward, enjoy gelato and window shop along Via dei Condotti. These lively streets showcase Rome’s modern side.
Visit the Trevi Fountain
Conclude your trip at the Trevi-Fountain. Toss coins consequently, to ensure your return to Rome. However, the fountain might be under renovation. Ancient sites often need care to preserve their beauty.
